One of Santa Barbara’s leading health and wellness chiropractic center, headed by Dr. Paul Zemella D.C. – Zemella Family Chiropractic Center, offers a variety of techniques and skills for your individual health needs. Some of these services will be described later on this site. Your first session lasts approximately one hour, in order to learn your pertinent history, do a thorough related examination, and allow time for beginning treatment. The better Dr. Zemella knows you and your condition, the more satisfactorily we can design a treatment plan for you, whether it is for one visit or a longer relationship.
Every follow-up visit includes a check-in time, to see how you responded to your previous treatment, and to learn if there are any new findings. Your care in the office is a team effort, with you being a major part of the team. You will likely be given suggestions of exercises to do or lifestyle changes you might make in order to optimize your treatments. We may discuss diet and nutrition. You are ultimately in charge, and will be involved in any plan or treatment provided. If a referral to another provider is appropriate, we will facilitate that referral.
Zemella Family Chiropractic Center specialize in the treatment of:
Back and neck pain or stiffness, Headaches, Whiplash injury (car, bike accidents, falls….), Herniated “slipped” discs, Nerve pain, sciatica, Sports injuries, Shoulder pain, rotator cuff injuries, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Foot or knee pain, Back pain during pregnancy, Breech baby near term, Scoliosis or spinal curvature, Tailbone pain or injury, Rib pain or injury, TMJ (temperomandibular joint) issues, Poor posture, Arthritis, Bursitis, Fibromyalgia, and Optimal Wellness.
Dr. Zemella well assess the patient through a spinal examination, laboratory tests, x-rays, etc. depending upon what the presenting condition might require. With that information a determination will be made as to whether chiropractic care can help the patient and if so the appropriate treatment will be discussed along with the suggested treatment schedule and costs.
The hands-on nature of the chiropractic treatment frequently requires patients to visit a chiropractor a number of times in order to make a lasting correction. A chiropractor may provide acute, chronic, and/or preventive care thus making a certain number of visits sometimes necessary. Your doctor of chiropractic should tell you the extent of treatment recommended and how long you can expect it to last.
Utilizing the information gathered in the assessment, we will begin to put the puzzle pieces together to derive the underlying cause of your condition, and begin working toward solutions.
Dr. Zemella has treated countless patients over the last 35 plus years successfully with conditions such as “whiplash” of the neck and back, usually due to a motor vehicle accident, ski or bike accident; herniated discs in the low back or neck, with radiating pain into the legs or arms; back, neck shoulder, knee strains; back pain with pregnancy; headaches; migraines; effects of mild closed head injury; carpal tunnel syndrome; work injuries; sports injuries; temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ), foot pain, scoliosis, and more less common conditions.
